Take a trip into NFT art with Jæn

Are you an avid art aficionado who’s down with the latest online trends and goings-on? Then IndieBloom are pleased to showcase to you, Jæn.

Enter the void

Based in Bordeaux, France, Jæn answers the question you’re probably keen to want to know, What exactly is an NFT (non-fungible token)? ‘A long-lasting, secured and transparent data safe that can contain anything from concert tickets to property of artworks.’

Jæn got into the world of cryptoart ‘Through that friend we all have, the one who's been into cryptocurrencies early, trying to convert to his new religion. He talked me into NFTs, and it was like finding home, when I finally understood what was going on.’ How’s your knowledge on NFT’s and cryptoart?

The tools of choice used to produce Jæn’s creations is mostly Photoshop and often start as a handmade physical drawing on paper. Then some animation and music software completes the magic, while the other main tool is a hectic brain exploring all neural pathways all the time 🧠 ‘It's exhausting, but it works.’

Being super talented with both drawing and music, Jæn prefers the visual art side more, ‘But when music clicks, especially in a band, there's this magic, this very strong feeling that feels maybe stronger in the body than visual art. Very different, yet many comparisons can be done on the process.’

Busy being creative brings about many challenges within your work, Jæn explains his. ‘Making 107 mushroom characters and painting them in less than 2 months. Can also talk about having 1 week to process more than a hundred dreams and build a cohesive illustration with all of them, that left me totally exhausted.’ He really does like to challenge himself within short time frames ⏳

Having an active, artistic mind and passion with oneiric (relating to dreams or dreaming) designs pleases Jæn as,

Creating worlds through my art, as in doing the stuff, really. It's like being able to invite people to your dreams, it's almost a metaphysic experience. Receiving invitations to great projects without having to apply (Disney was one of them), it feels that all the promo you've been doing is finally worth it. Having your work collected and building a great human to human relationship with collectors is really cool too.

An art odyssey

Working hard has caught the attention of some big names for Jæn - Disney and Google.

For Mickey's 90th Birthday: the art production team, the great Quai 36 (an art space at Paris’ Gare du Nord train station for French and international artists to showcase their work), came to me, so somehow promo had paid off. For Google For Startups, it was something for their internal use commissioned through a long-time partner, Dreame, which is the company we're going to project a collective piece around the world and then launch it to Space in 2022. I found Dreame years ago through a simple call to artists on Instagram, you never know what's coming down the road!

(SpaceX perhaps? 🤔😏) 🚀🛰

In preparation for all of that, a working day for Jæn involves,

Coffee, networking, artworking, eating late and complaining about the lack of physical activity, re-artworking, networking, eating, networking. Of course, I manage to take half-days off once in a while, exercise a bit and see friends & fam, but it really is a full-time job. The best one, but non-artists probably underestimate how much time networking/marketing/thinking everything through consumes.

IndieBloom has noticed through our interviews that building a brand and showcasing your work during COVID times has usually been beneficial, with a lot of time to reflect and focus on your business. It’s been no different for Jæn. ‘To the best, actually: refined my animation skills, let me focus on cryptoart full time, and made me prioritise things better.’ While also learning that, ‘The art expresses at best 10% of what lives in your mind. It's already good, but if you want people to have access to more, you have to talk about it. Find a title and description that acts as a gate to more depth.’

Reading this are you now keen to be a part of the NFT world and community, but not sure about its future? From someone who’s been working and involved in the industry for a while now, Jæn says it’s ‘The standard for years to come. Looking extremely great so far.’ 👌

Continuing on from this leads to Jæn’s upcoming projects,

One piece exhibited in Time Square soon, the collective project launching to space, another HUGE exhibition I cannot talk about now, continuing my two cryptoart projects (Cornælhuys for the historic cryptoart that will later level up for real, and my narrative dreamworld 0nir0), and way more. Stay tuned!

We hope you’ve learnt some valuable new things and go out and explore the world of NFT’s. Delve further into Jæn's art and mind through connecting with all his work and projects via Lynkfire, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook (not used much, admitted by Jæn) and Instagram.
