History in the baking

The story of Memes Treats and Cakey Buzz started during the pandemic when creator Ebony Faure had plenty of time on her hands to learn new skills. Although she’s always had an interest in baking, with all this free time and skill to show, Memes Treats launched at the start of 2021 and Cakey Buzz followed in October 2021. Situated in London, UK the brand delivers worldwide! 🌍✈📦

Cake & bake

Memes Treats specialises in delicious homemade cupcakes, cakes, biscuits and desserts, while Cakey Buzz focuses on cupcakes, cakes, desserts, brownies and cookies that are edibles 🧁🍃 Something for everyone to experience.

Ebony explains the process for creating her treats, ‘I start by asking my clients what's the occasion, what they’d like on their treat, prices, sizes and specifications.’ With all of her creations being very unique in different ways, she doesn’t have a favourite, as she’s enjoyed creating every treat she’s made.

Even though there’s a lot of sweet treats involved, IndieBloom wanted to know whether there was a preference between working on Memes Treats or Cakey Buzz. Ebony tells us, ‘I have a wider variety of styles and designs I could create with Memes Treats, whereas Cakey Buzz are edible treats which is mainly brownies and cookies.’

Any challenging experiences encountered along the way for Memes Treats and Cakey Buzz? ‘My most challenging experiences would be when meeting clients needs through designs that I hadn't created before.’

Bake it till you make it

Surviving and experiencing the challenging situations, the pleasing ones so far for Ebony ‘are when I get feedback from customers, and go above and beyond to ensure I meet customers expectations and needs.’ Continuing to meet customers expectations and needs, we were curious to know if Ebony gets many vegan requests? ‘I do get quite a few vegan and lactose intolerant clients, and I’m able to meet their requirements’. Always good to know🌱👌

A potential need for Ebony’s brands would be a website to showcase all the tasty, tempting treats. ‘I have thought of it but I am still learning new techniques and developing my skills, once I’ve conquered that I can create my website.’ Everyday is a school-day🤓💻⌨🖱

Cake it easy

To get the treats ready for whatever upcoming occasions, Ebony is on point.

I start by preparing a week or a fortnight in advance, that would be me communicating with clients via text/message or telephone calls, where I’d find out their requirements and how they’d like their treat to be designed (size, shape, height, etc). Then I go onto getting cake toppers and add-ons delivered in time for when I start my treats, to ensure everything runs smoothly and clients receive their treats in time.

Making sweet treats and running your own business has most definitely been useful learning and gaining valuable life and baking experience.

I've learnt how to get out of my comfort zone, by trying out new designs and conquering new skills.

I've also learnt that certain products that I use for Memes Treats doesn't always work for Cakey Buzz, as Cakey Buzz is edible based so it's a bit different when it comes to flavours and textures. 

Ebony’s tips and skills for anyone trying to make their own treats service are, ‘I'd say, everything's worth a try you should follow your dreams and it wouldn't hurt to learn new skills.’ 👈It definitely doesn’t hurt at all.

What’s next for Memes Treats and Cakey Buzz? ‘I have many future plans that I can't quite disclose as of yet, but I have a surprise in store…’ 🤐🤫
